EDI Standards

123 EDI supports all EDI standards, including EDIFACT/UN and ASC ANSI X12.

We also provide support for non-EDI formats like mainstream JSON and XML, as well as proprietary APIs.

American National Standards Institute (ASC) X12

is a membership-based not-for-profit organization chartered in 1979 by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). It was created to develop uniform data standards and specifications for cross-industry electronic exchange of business transactions. ASC X12 creates a neutral environment and an appropriate structure to foster the development and implementation of data standards.
All types of Fortune 500 companies, small and mid-sized businesses, industry associations, and government agencies participate in ASC X12. Over 300,000 companies worldwide use the X12 electronic data interchange (EDI) standards in their daily business transactions.

United Nations Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce, and Transport (EDIFACT/UN)

Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce, and Transport (EDIFACT) is an international standard provided by ISO 9735, created in 1986. Since then, it has helped many businesses and large companies provide better service and run their business more efficiently.

EDIFACT was prepared by the UN/ECE Trade Division and adopted by ISO/TC 154. The UN/ECE also prepared Message Design Guidelines, which are included in the UN/ECE Trade Data Interchange Directory. The standard version was published in 1988 and was amended with some minor changes in 1990.

XML

Companies have depended on traditional electronic data interchange (EDI) to simplify and expedite their transactions with customers, suppliers, and other partners. XML, a document-tagging language, offers an innovative approach that came into existence with the potential to reach new markets, simplify access, populate web pages, and serve as a technological Esperanto for all types of transactions.

JSON

JSON is an open-standard file format that uses human-readable text to transmit data objects consisting of attribute-value pairs and array data types (or any other serialized value). It is a very common data format used for asynchronous browser-server communication, including as an alternative to XML.
